Greengridz: sustainable kitchen worktop
There is a new core material that proves that convenience and design can go hand in hand with environmental friendliness: Greengridz. This innovative, waterproof material leaves a smaller ecological footprint than plywood, which is commonly used for kitchen worktops. Greengridz is also more economical and has many other advantages:
- More resistant to impacts than plywood
- More resistant to water than plywood
- More stable and lighter than plywood
- More affordable than plywood (also available in waterfall panels)
- Available in thicknesses of 20, 32, 38, 50, 60, 80 mm
- Greengridz is a base material that can be finished with TopLaminate®, DecorTop or FENIX.
Material properties of Greengridz
Greengridz is made of HDF base panels with 4 mm top and bottom sheets and 3 mm core, cell structure bonded with environmentally friendly PVAc D3 adhesive, inlaid on both edges. The maximum size is 520 x 120 cm. The panel thickness can vary from 20, 32, 38, 50, 60 and 80 mm.
Greengridz is green!
Greengridz has not only a smaller ecological footprint; it also has many other green properties. The production process, for example, is green. And it's less costly than conventional core materials.
Small ecological footprint
Greengridz is FSC® certified. This label guarantees that the wood comes from well-managed forests.
CARB2-certified
The base material of Greengridz meets the strict standards for compounded wood products, as set by the California Air Resources Board (CARB). This means that the emission of formaldehyde is well within the limits (that is: less than 0.08 ppm). Greengridz is one of the first materials to meet these high requirements.
Ecological footprint
The production of Greengridz requires less raw materials compared to traditional worktops. That makes its ecological footprint relatively small.
Less CO2 emissions
CO2 emissions from the production of Greengridz are 60% less compared to plywood.
Recyclable and biodegradable
Greengridz can be recycled 100%. The worktop material is completely biodegradable. The PVAc B3 glue used is environmentally friendly!
Economical in transport
Because Greengridz is lightweight, less fuel is required to transport it, which further reduces CO2 emissions.
